
On Friday, March 1, 2019 the Achievement Center of LECOM Health will host its 4th annual Read Across America Day celebration. This event is a yearly tradition put together by Reading NOW, the Achievement Center of LECOM Health’s full-service literacy center.
The purpose of Read Across America Day is to motivate children to read and bring reading excitement to children of all ages. Motivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement and creating lifelong successful readers. Research has shown that children who are motivated and spend more time reading do better in school. Across the country, millions of readers will participate in this celebration which is held each year on Dr. Seuss’s birthday to celebrate his legacy and encourage children to read. This day not only gets kids excited about reading, but encourages adults to spend more time reading to children.
